Error Messages

Error: Angle is not close to 90 or 45 degrees

elbow_angle_error_message.jpg

Solution:

  • For elbows Check ON the 'Cut Elbow' check box, or try refitting the straight sections of pipe if the expected result is to be a standard 45 or 90 degree elbow.
  • For tees Check ON the 'Non-standard' check box, or try refitting the branch sections of pipe if the expected result is to be a standard tee. tee_angle_error_message.jpg

Error: A piping system must be created.

piping_system_missing.png

Before fitting pipe to laser scans a Piping System must be created and present in the Project Explorer tab.

Solution: See How To Create a Piping System

Error: Cylinder fit error: Unable to fit cylinder at the seed point. Please choose a different point and try again.

cylinder_fit_error.jpg

The 'seed point' is the scan point you selected as the starting point to calculate the pipe's center line. This error can occur from noisy data or from an insufficient amount of points to extract both the center line and diameter for a section of pipe.

Solution: Try clicking on a different scan point to fit the pipe.

Error: Extend cylinder error: The cylinder fit at the selected point does not match the cylinder being extended.

extend_cylinder_error.jpg

The program is finding two different diameters in the pipe.

Solution: Look closely at the point you've chosen to extend the pipe. Accidentally selecting a point that is not a part of the pipe run is the most common reason for this error. If noisy data is present, you may need to select a different scan point. Also check for reducers along the pipe run as an indication that the pipe size has changed.

Error: There are no meshable scans. Only scans with a grid structure can be meshed.

no_meshable_scans.jpg

Scan to mesh requires ordered laser scans. Ordered scans are sometimes called structured scans or gridded scans. Each of these is comprised of rows and columns. Rows and columns are necessary for meshing laser scans.

Solution: The original or native scan files will often have an ordered structure of rows and columns. Use them if possible, or convert them to a supported format using an ordered or structured option when converting or exporting.
