Kohera3D Piping
Kohera3D™ Piping is a cost-effective feature extraction program that provides tools to efficiently fit piping components to 3D laser scan data. Kohera3D™ Laser Scanning Solutions was born out of the need for Summit Engineering and Design, LLC to have immediate, practical solutions to the barriers that limited the effective use of the extremely powerful technology of 3D Laser Scanning. Kohera3D™ Piping is a standalone program that does not require a CAD program license to fit piping systems. Create scan projects and volume boxes with supported file formats such as ptx, e57, and Faro fls.
Efficiently fit piping components to 3D laser scan data.
Piping components can be exported as centerlines and precise "snap to points" for use in other CAD and piping software programs such as AutoCAD's Plant 3D.
Create and export volumes or select a series of scan points and export them as a new file. Export types include txt, dxf, and industry standard E57 file format.
Kohera3D Piping features:
A standalone program that does not require a CAD program license to fit piping systems.
Fit cylinders to scan data by selecting one or more seed points along a pipe or by selecting an area of the pipe in the scan data.
Extend the cylinder fit for straight pipe across fittings or gaps in the scan data.
Add pipe fittings such as elbows, tees, and valves, and generate the precise snap-to points for design in CAD.
View E57, PTX, and FARO scan files.
Apply “volume filters” to limit displayed data to spherical, rectangular, cylindrical, or planar regions.
“Spotlight” feature to maximize detail in a specific region, even while navigating.
Take measurements in the scan data. Choose from metric, imperial, and survey units.
Adjustable scan density.
Adjustable point size.
Adjustable transparency.
Import OBJ models.
Export key model data for import into CAD piping design programs. Exports contain pipe routing polylines that can be quickly and accurately converted to piping systems by piping design programs such as AutoDesk Plant 3D.

Perform enhanced scan filtering of mixed pixels.

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10.
Processor: 3.0 GHz Quad Core with Hyper-Threading or better
Memory: 32 GB or more.
Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce 970, or ATI 7850 or better with at least 4 GB memory and latest drivers.
Hard Disk Space: 1 TB internal or E-SATA connected external hard drive.
Ports: Available USB port for dongle.
Minimal System Requirements (sufficient for viewing and basic functions):
Operating System: Microsoft Windows Vista or higher.
Processor: 2.5 GHz Dual Core processor or better.
Memory: 8 GB minimum for usage of most features; 4 GB for basic viewing only.
Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce 460 or better with updated drivers.
Hard Disk Space: 50 MB available internal hard drive space for program files; 10 GB internal or external hard drive space for project files.
Ports: Available USB port for dongle.
Note: Large projects will require more space, up to several hundred GB for scan data alone.
Q. Does this software create modeled pipe?
No. Kohera3D Piping extracts centerlines and diameters from pipe inside the scan data. You will still need to route pipe in a CAD based piping program. The centerlines give you snap-to-points and a path to follow when routing your pipe model.
Q. Will this generate isometrics?
No. Kohera3D Piping only extracts pipe centerlines and diameters from laser scan data. Centerlines are to be used as an aid for as-built pipe modeling.
Q. What file types can be saved or exported?
The pipe centerlines will be exported as DXF. Point Cloud selections can be saved as E57, PTX, TXT, and PTI.
